I'd bet that he's using newer kernel headers.
That's true, but it's not the important thing. Automounting has worked
for me for a looonnng time. Since before inotify went into the kernel. I
can remember applying the inotify patches to the kernel in an attempt to
do away with FAM (I dislike daemons). The main thing is, install FAM or
Gamin before gnome-vfs.
