Agreed. MAC-based authentication would do the same thing. But then, you
have to call the ISP (or they force you to a site via a proxy) anytime
you change MAC addresses so that you can be verified.
No, this is not the same thing. You can change your password when the old one is
leaked. With the MAC address, this is harder.
