I went 6.9.0. Why do the hard to get the same as the easy? Don't
take this the wrong way, but at this point installing 7.0 is just
plain dumb, or one is a glutton for punishment, or one is getting
his scripts in order.

But "getting his scripts in order" at this point is premature. It
has been mentioned several times that Xorg will be changing the
amount of packages required to install an X desktop.

Ditto that sentiment.

Not true. I build Lynx before even leaving LFS Chapter 6 chroot.
Works for me. At the console with Lynx and GPM installed it is
the same as a graphics layout only you're stuck with 80x25 (unless
you use framebuffer). You have multiple terminals, mouse driven
cut-and-paste and full capability for multiuser use.

3. Advise to install Lynx and GPM. All these issues you describe
evaporate.

Can't comment as I cannot see a good reason yet to use 7.0.

Exactly why I made a fuss about the jumping around to the config
page. But your idea about not wanting to put multiple installation
info on a dedicated page for just one package makes sense. I
promptly shut up after you made that great comment.

Then, today, I run into Xorg-7.0 with redundant stuff that is
already in the 'community' configuration page. Tsk. Tsk. :-)

It is part of 6.9 if you use the default configuration file
created in the instructions. My belief is that the decision to
put it away from the X instructions, is due to some in the
livecd team, who say that Xterm is unnecessary. I, as much as
anything that's ever been presented, disagree with this
sentiment.

To me, having Xterm in the "General Utilities" is so far from
wrong that it isn't funny.

I'm sure I've sparked discussion, as well as dissension.
