So if you won't use packet filtering you need not libpcap.
Thanks. Are you sure libpcap is only needed for packet filtering? I
thought I read somewhere that libpcap enables ppp to detect when a
connection is dead and it can then (after a timeout) call up your ISP
again and reestablish the connection.
