It is true, as you write, that the first build of xorg should be done
through a set of compatible packages. But afterwards, if one is interested
in certain fields, the search for information can be daunting.

The attached script makes it a breeze. It is also quite easy to add
an external "exclude" file with the $BASENAME listing things like
xf86-video-trident and other cruft. Then add a grep-dependant retrieval.

I know that distro-maintainers already run these kind of scripts, but
why not demystify it for new blfs-ers?

Let it go to /dev/null, put it on a wiki or rewrite as you see fit. I'm
just reacting to queries that begin to pop up on the xorg mailing list.
I'm not subscribed there and feel too much like an amateur to post. Action
by proxy is more in line with my personality.
