Last night at out local LUG I heard about the program partprobe for the
first time. If you haven't heard of it, the program rereads the
partition table for the local system. This is very useful after
creating a new partition on the same drive as / because fdisk does not
update the kernel's partition table in that case.

Upon investigation, I find the partprobe program is a part of the GNU
parted package. This is a simple CMMI install. The main parted program
of course has the goal of doing the same thing as the commercial
Partition Magic application.

Should we add parted to BLFS? I can probably do it today without much
problem, but don't know if we want to hold off introducing new packages
 right now.
