Last night at out local LUG I heard about the program partprobe for the first time. If you haven't heard of it, the program rereads the partition table for the local system. This is very useful after creating a new partition on the same drive as / because fdisk does not update the kernel's partition table in that case.
Upon investigation, I find the partprobe program is a part of the GNU parted package. This is a simple CMMI install. The main parted program of course has the goal of doing the same thing as the commercial Partition Magic application. Should we add parted to BLFS?
