I just did. Could you take a look and see if it's ok? I assigned it a
pretty high priority since the current instructions result in hdparm
being unusable.

I'm installing the book toolchain. My main problem is time: I barely
have time to report the few bugs I find. But I'll do it if you can wait
a few days.

I can only test on my scanner, but I do follow the xsane devel list. I
hope that's useful.
