Yes, of course. Now, would this note be best in:

1) The "Conventions used in this Book" section of Chapter 1
2) the "Notes on building software" section in Chapter 2
3) a separate (new) section in Chapter 1
4) a separate new section (at the very beginning) of Chapter 2
5) somewhere else
