I for one would like to see the xfce desktop stay in the blfs book. Previously I mainly used KDE on my desktop (amd-athlon-XP1700+, 512Mb) and fluxbox on my laptop(500Mhz PIII, 128Mb). Xfce is very decent middle way that runs smooth enough on the laptop and like lightning on the dekstop. I compiled xfce as by the ancient instructions of the blfs book and the 4.4.1 version, guided by the dependancies listed on the xfce website. the 4.2 version from the blfs book without HAL and the 4.4.1 with HAL and dbus support (seems to work fine on my system) xfmedia didn't perform to my liking and it was swapped out in favour of xine and Terminal didn't make it into my system because I am rather attached to the good-old xterm. further details are available if anyone is interested :) Though my time is rather limited, I could be talked into doing some work on the xfce package .... greetings, Fenna -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
