When I first did lfs I was an advanced user but I had no idea as to the base packages, and through doing lfs I learned what goes into a base system, lfs exists to teach and has done so perfectly well so far.
I struggle to see how being provided with a clean environment and all the packages you need removes any kind of initial skill, compared to using a distro you currently have and downloading each package individually, in the end we all need the same skills in order to build a system. Forcing people to use different host environments only encourages further complication, and from experience we know full well that different hosts produce different results, they are unpredictable. The livecd is not only an easy way to get everything you need, but it's a clean universal host environment, I challenge anyone to show how complicating the process is what's best for the project. -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
