After sending that, I remembered that I always used to recommend people using the development book should follow blfs-dev because some changes can be protracted (e.g. xorg, gtk+ version change, gnome version change, kde version change). Specifically, I'm thinking of situations where something works fine now, but might be broken for a few days during a change.
