The PDL package provides perl support for numerical calculations. This should not be confused with perl modules like xml-parser. I did a search through the book and find no references to pdl and agree that it can be removed from the book. Perl modules, on the other hand, are used in several places. The instructions for installing perl modules is pretty generic. About the only thing that changes is the version numbers in general.ent. A grep through the book shows the following sections referencing perl modules: general/genlib/libgsf.xml general/prog/pdl.xml general/prog/subversion.xml general/graphlib/fontconfig.xml general/genutils/intltool.xml general/genutils/pilot-link.xml general/genutils/imagemagick.xml general/genutils/rxvt-unicode.xml general/genutils/scrollkeeper.xml general/genutils/icon-naming-utils.xml gnome/add/gnome-games.xml gnome/add/gnome-nettool.xml gnome/core/metacity.xml multimedia/audioutils/gnome-media.xml networking/netprogs/wget.xml pst/sgml/docbook-utils.xml server/databases/postgresql.xml server/major/bind.xml x/wm/xfce.xml xsoft/other/pidgin.xml xsoft/office/gnucash.xml xsoft/office/libreoffice.xml xsoft/suites/openoffice.xml I didn't check, but some of the above may not be included in the book any more. -- Bruce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
