That's my approach too. Actually I've noticed few large differences between the old and new values. I do use an automated script that tells me SBU based on my binutils time, currently 129 seconds. We all do things a little differently, I have my sources, scripts, and logs in /usr/src, but build in /tmp. The build size is calculated from the df value of /tmp before and after the build. It does not include the size of the installed package in it's final destination unless I use DESTDIR to keep it in /tmp, This probably underestimates the size I use, but generally I think it's less than 10%. /tmp is a separate partition, but I don't clean /tmp on reboot. > Xulrunner is one that gives me always problems. The times are generally pretty rough. Another factor that affects things is the dependencies installed. Doing a rebuild for me does generally show faster times, but not by that much. Perhaps that's because I'm always building to a clean directory. Bottom line -- jsut use what you have. Sometimes a short description is useful like (all dependencies) or (with[out] tests). -- Bruce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
