Hi, Pierre,

I am very glad you are back! I was worried.

Please, fix the mess I did yesterday with the desktop file in OJDK. I
think it should remain, but the icon and a && at the end are the problems.

Also, I thought a lot and couldn't decide if that or Configuration, was
the best place. About the place for it, there is the same question in
IT-Web.

In OJDK, I did it with pt_BR as an example. A sentencen is missing to
explain that. In the future, I would prefer it modified to be fr_FR
example. But now, as I needed to code the í the same way as Igor did
with his name in the Credits, I would like it to stay temporarily pt_BR,
just to see if we can gain more people in favour of modifying the book
to UTF-8.

It is an important file for the java users.

One thing more, provoked by Armin, I replaced xulrunner by npapi-sdk.
All my checks indicate it is correct, but I would like very much your
second opinion.

Hi Fernando,

Thanks for your nice "welcome back". I haven't had the time to see
what you call a "mess" yet.

About UTF-8, I do use fr_FR@UTF-8 as my LANG setting, and
UNICODE=1 in /etc/sysconfig/console, and it works well. It seems I
do not get the point.

Oh, I see now: the problem is that the .xml is iso-8859-1 encoded!

Problem is: if somebody (Bruce maybe) wants to edit the book and
is not setup for UTF-8, any non-ascii character will appear as
garbage. I know that Ken says he uses en_GB@UTF-8, so this should not
be a problem for him.

Well, let's ask again (there was already a thread in May) on the list...

BTW, why do you want to remove the pt_BR entry if we put one
for fr_FR? We can add any translation we want by adding more
lines specifying languages in square bracket to the .desktop file.

Another thing: maybe we could propose to install the .desktop file on the
icedtea-web page rather than icedtea?
This way, the javaws.png file could be reached, as far as I understand.
And (I may be wrong) I do not think that the policytool is much needed
if the web is not accessed.

Last (but not least): I have managed to get all my incoming mails (some
are flagged as SPAM, but I do not care) from
the lists, so no need to contact me privately.

Regards
Pierre
