Well, now that I've opened the case, pressing the on button gives a
slight movement of the visible fans (CPU, back of case) by about 5
degrees.  So, I know that the case switch is working.  Will need to
get a new PSU to try - I've never had a PSU fail before where it was
not immediately obvious (smell, one time also a blown fuse) so I'm
not particularly hopeful.
