No need to apologise, you explained why you got those misleading
results.  And this shows that you have done a lot more than I have
with 0.12 - I've only put it on one machine - and you have much more
need than I have to get the correct flags.  I'll continue to wait
unless/until I have something to suggest.

For the moment, moving another of my desktop machines to 7.8 is
deferred - I need to get on with some photo editing there.  It will
be done when I've done a larger chunk of photos and got my head
around the pseudo-HDR process I'm using.  I suppose I might put
sddm-0.12 (without PAM) onto the test machine which has 0.11 and
kf5, to see what happens - but at the moment I'm trying qemu in a
different system there.  This prerelase testing is a joy, not : but
then I never expected to enjoy it ;-)
