Actually, the behavior has changed for FF 41, see:

There are two possibilities:
a) Add --disable-gconf to mozconfig
b) Make gconf a recommended dependency
Thoughts?
Same goes for thunderbird, btw. Has been mentioned by several people
before, but strangely still didn't make it into the book.
