Holy cow! I'm sorry. This entire thread was a waste of time due to a broken local copy of the book. Apparently I chose mc instead of tc at some point when merging a conflicting change. I was looking at the old instructions, hence my confusion. My fault entirely, sorry for the noise. Thank goodness those changes haven't went in.
