The BLFS-9.0 release work is progressing nicely. We have a week to go
before the scheduled release. Currently we have all tickets closed and
about 30 packages left to tag. There are also a couple of other
outstanding issues we have been discussing.
1. For tagging, I would like to solicit help in tagging the following:
x/installing/x7driver-ati.xml
x/installing/x7driver-vmware.xml
x/installing/x7driver-amdgpu.xml
x/installing/libvdpau-va-gl.xml
x/installing/x7driver-synaptics.xml
They can be built easily enough, but I have no easy way to test.
2. We might want to look at the open tickets for 9.1 and see if we want
to promote any of them to 9.0.

Right now I think we could update xfsprogs, dhcpcd, bind, icewm, and
mpg123 without any issues. Any problems? Is there anything else?
3. One issue being discussed is whether to make xorg-server suid again.
AFAIK, Doug, Pierre, DJ, and I have been able to get the desktop
environments working without setting the suid bit for
$XORG_PREFIX/libexec/Xorg, but Ken has not. My preference is to add a
note in the Xorg-7 Testing page saying that if there are problems, try
running:
chmod u+s $XORG_PREFIX/libexec/Xorg
however we do need to get this resolved before release.
4. Pierre has had a problem with using a non-US keyboard with GDM. I'm
not sure how to resolve this, but we probably need some sort of
workaround before release.
Are there any other issues?
