They are taking it further than that. They will exclude "/dev/" according to the discussion in the bug, probably overkill, but I can't see that it matters. At any rate, fairly simple fix hopefully. Sounds like they want to cleanup the whole thing at some point. If that's the case, they may want to also exclude /proc/self/fd in the event that they wind up using os.path.realpath in the future - if for nothing else, to give a clue to whoever does wind up cleaning it up in the future.
