Surely that is one to bounce off the T-bird developers. Seems hard to believe that you now need DBus to build an email client, albeit a GUI one. Sure, if you want lots of bells and whistles - perhaps because you are used to getting surface mail from a real whistling postman who always rings twice? - in your email client, then maybe.
