*First, a bit of history. I used Gentoo (kernel-2.6.8.1 with udev) as the host system for building LFS-6.0. One of the packages I emerged on the Gentoo system was digikam-0.7.1; and using the information ion the following link, I was able to gety digikam to recognize and access my USB PTP Class camera as a normal user.

So, I thought I would try to build digikam-0.7.1 on my LFS system using KDE-3.3.2 as the active window manager. I had no problem building the package, but I cannot get digikam to access the camera or even to recognize that a camera is conneted to the computer. I know that the kernel is aware that a USB device has been plugged in. I have tried to use the same information in the previous link to apply it to the LFS system. I doesn't work.

I am really hoping that someone on this list has managed to get this to work. I woould really appreciate some help. I suspect that it may be a permissions thing, but since this as a PTP camera, no device is being genated by the hotplug handler, and thus, I have no device ffile in /dev for which I can set permissions. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ron
