Anyway, the phrase was OP's log - you are the OP (original poster).
What I meant was "whichever log it logs to" - in my case, the messages
are in the main sys.log.

Now that you've installed the bootscript, have you remembered to start
it?

I rebooted before testing.  Don't the blfs bootscripts install upon booting?

I'm uncertain about the log files.  I rebooted and blew all logs from /var/log.  After attempting the ShieldsUP! test I see only Xorg.0.log.  What should I search for?  I definitely qualify as a newbie regarding log files.

I should mention that before using the blfs scripts I successfully compiled Guarddog.  It passed on several firewall test sites so I figure iptables is working.  However, Guarddog would never return a ShieldsUP! test result at grc.com.  Using Konqueror the test would timeout.  Using Opera I received a never-ending hourglass.
