So I definitly am a szcrumlfbold for calling for help about sound when it has nothing to do with it. Gasp :-( I have a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro. It worked fine with previous versions of XFree and X.Org, but the 6.8.2 version seems to go wrong with it. There are some traces on internet about similar problems, but nothing conclusive so far. If not, the system won't know it's crashed. I didn't mention this, but I log on runlevel 3, being too lazy to install xdm, which I previously had problem with (or was it wdm ?). And I CAN'T GET TO THAT F... CONSOLE !!!!!!!!
