I have 2 lfs builds here on this box, lfs-3.3 and lfs-5.0(and later).
I have this odd niusance thing I'm asking for help on.
On LFS-5.0 I cannot read the / partition as a user, which is a pain
seeing as I use some vfat partitions for shared storage. And everything
seems the same.
lfs-3.3 (users can 'ls -l /')
/etc/fstab: /dev/hda8 / ext3 defaults 1 1
from ls -l:
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 8 2002-04-19 21:51 /dev/hda8
lfs-5.0 (users can't list root):
/etc/fstab: /dev/hda6 / ext3 defaults 1 1
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 6 2003-10-14 11:28 /dev/hda6
Umasks and anything else I can think of are the same in both systems
No udev in sight, full /dev directories and no pain; 2.4x kernels.
What's the beef?
