I fail to see Why?  If moz is broken then it should be fixed.

This is (read: should be) no different so far.

Okay, the question remains, using the same build directory and 'make
install' does it work, if not, why?

No.  It's covered in the book, but the book is broken and needs to be
fixed.  Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad that it works like it should
now, but moz-dev needs to figure out why.  I remain fairly sure they'd
appreciate a patch to fix it if somebody can figure it out.
