It may be a kernel bug. I had a serious kernel 'oops' with
linux-2.6.11.12 on a large directory copy. I have a dual 2.8 P4, 1G ram.
Kernel config: smp, hyperthreading, mem > 1G, himem, and himem page tables.
I have never had a kernel oops before. I used 2.6.11.12 for only two
hours. I have not had an oops since with earlier or later kernels. I
wont use it again, so I cant duplicate the error.
