I have two different installations of BLFS, both running running gpdf 2.10. On both installations, all non-embedded fonts are rendered as a single font face. On other (non-LFS) systems I've had, gpdf has been able to render fonts correctly using the TTF fonts installed on the system. For some reasons gpdf doesn't do this on my BLFS install.
Gnome can see the fonts. I use TTFs on my desktop and in my apps. If I go to fonts:/// in Nautilus, all the fonts are there.
