Hey, that's fine. The core is the most important part, anyway. I
hadn't really thought about how ridiculous it would be to commit
changes to ~40 packages at once. This is totally fine. I'm willing
to sniff out some bugs or build problems for myself along the way. I
just want to build as much as I can in one pass. And the core
packages are the biggies. Having a misplaced switch in gedit or
something is something I can handle. Knowing that I can probably make
it thru nautilus without significant problems is much better.
Perhaps I didn't explain myself well. All the core packages *and*
all the add-on packages that are optional dependencies of the core
packages have now been updated.
Perhaps I explained myself worse. I'll try again in less words:
Thanks for letting me know where it stands. I understand that you are
in the middle of it. I will keep my eyes open for the changes. In the
meantime (in the minutes before I ran my giant script) I only installed
the core gnome. Today and tomorrow I will work on the add-ons as
they're updated.
And here's how it went. Looks nice, haven't done much with it. Yelp
works from gnome-terminal with Firefox-1.5b2. I'll roll back to 1.0.7
in a couple days to see what happens.
