Thus spoke Rainer Peter Feller: > hm I may be wrong, because I don't use the livecd, but are you sure that > in the livecd the path is /dev/input/mice and not /dev/input/mouse0 ? > and do you use a ps2 or usb mouse?
it doesn't work on either /dev/input/mice, /dev/input/mouse0, /dev/mouse or /dev/psaux. it's a ps2 mouse (actually a touchpad on a toshiba satellite 2410). it has 2 buttons and a wheel, nothing more. ImPS/2 doesn't work either (plus, it starts to behave rather strange, like when i click on the scrollbar to scroll down, it jumps back up again immediately - no idea where that comes from). i used to work with exactly the same settings earlier (/dev/input/mice, ImPS/2, ZAxisMapping "4 5") and it always worked, and it works on the livecd with Xorg 6.7.0 or 6.8.2, it just doesn't work on my installation now (with 6.8.2). xev doesn't show any events for the wheel at all on my installation. So the problem isn't that Xorg couldn't handle the events, they actually never arrive there. So the Problem could probably be somewhere in the kernel, but I have no idea where that could be. Simon PS: The mouse always works, it's just the wheel which is on strike... -- simon scheiwiller bollstrasse 21 ch-8405 winterthur +41 78 624 16 73 -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
