Those distros probably include the firmware for your scanner. In LFS,
you need to have a file with the firmware, and then tell sane where
to find that file. You need to edit the configuration file for the
appropriate backend.
For instance, I have an Epson 2480, and I have the firmware file in
/home/miguel/apps/share/Esfw41.bin. I edited /etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf
to include this line:
firmware /home/miguel/apps/share/Esfw41.bin
You probably need to do something similar for your backend.
