I second that notion.  LFS is extremely addictive.  I just set up a
mail server for the first time following mostly the BLFS book, and I
can't believe I never had one before.  Now I'm getting delusions of
grandeur about installing apache, php, etc.  The only thing I feel bad
for is my old box that I'm always taxing to the limit.

Sounds fun.  I think it's possible, but media support on Linux is
always an adventure.  It's one area that sadly lacks behind the
proprietary stuff on Windows, IMO.
