No Progress to Report: As you note, the BLFS BOOK 6.1 has xIncludes and not all at the root/index level, either. Unfortunately, the XML parsers for Python don't seem to expand xIncludes by default. I am investigating *libxml2* from Gnome, which has Python bindings and some documentation but not a lot of examples. It doesn't expand the xIncludes (either) the way I am using it, but it is supposed to able to somehow. My experiments are ongoing. Using *libxml2* would introduce yet another prerequisite to the BLFS Dependencies Hint, but that would be a small price to pay for being able to do away with the *sax* patch. -- ..
