Thanks for the suggestion. In fact, I first launched a bugreport on bugs.kde.org before posting here. The entry can be found here : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124980 Unfortunately, I didn't find much help until now..... > Hopefully, that would be of some help. But David, do keep in mind that > several people (including me on 3 different machines) have installed > this version of KDE successfully following {B}LFS instructions. I'm sure of that ! Unfortunately, it doesn't solve "my" problem, and won't help anyone facing the same problem as me... Please, don't take badly what I've just written, it just means what it does, without any insinuation. > > One thing that could affect the build is that I'm using LFS-SVN, which > uses the GCC-4.0.x series, whereas I believe I remember you saying you > are using an LFS-6.1.1 build which uses a 3.4.x version of GCC. This is interesting ! So far, what I don't understand is that I successfully built KDE 3.5.0, and can't update since then... But you might be right, it could be caused by gcc, since I've built a lfs6.1.1 plus blfs-svn machine, with the versions provided by the books. No extra software was included. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. So, what ? If you were facing the same problem, what would you do ? Would you wait for the next version of {B}LFS to come out, or go ahead with the svn branch ? I've done so for the BLFS, because I was told here that it was due to come out as a stable version shortly... Thanks again for the help and advices given.
