I'm trying to get gnome up, and I'm stuck on the installation of
gtk+. During the execution of the configure script, I get the

configure: error: Xft Pango backend is require dfor x11 target
I went redid the pango installation and still get the same error.
The following echo commands show environment info:
echo $PKG_CONFIG_PATH
/usr/X11R6/lib/pkconfig
ls /usr/X11R6/lib/pkconfig/
xft.pc xcursor.pc
Is this a typo or is it really what is on your system? It should be
pkgconfig, not pkconfig.
My confusion is growing, and it appears others have had this
problem as well, but their 'fixes' don't seem to help.

p.s. Incidently, the "Xft" link on the BLFS Pango page
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/x/pango.html,
appears to be broken.
