I did something similar recently lol. I hope this works for you...
Firstly, DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO THIS DISK UNTILL YOU MAKE A BACKUP
it would be a VERY good idea if you could borrow an iPod of a friend
or something. Otherwise, you could probably do something over a
network.
Do something like this on a livecd
dd if=/dev/hda of=/mnt/ipod/a_file
or use a network share for of if you have to.
Oh and btw i hope your disk is pretty small...
Now...
First, you'll need BartPE, which is basically a windows liveCD. You'll
need an existing windows instalation handy somewhere though.

Boot BartPE, then run this from a floppy or something...

It should help you recreate your partition table
Hope that works

Thanks already,

I have tried writing my 30 GB disk to my desktop computer using "dd"
But my network is only 10 mbit, so that was gonna take some 8 hours...
And I didn't really know what to do with the big file actually.

But any way I found some other interresting programs:

gpart (guess partition dont mess it up with Gparted which is a
partition program)
It can be found (http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/76201/gpart/)
but it doesn't seem to guess my extended partions correctly :( So that
didn't work for me

testdisk can be found (http://freshmeat.net/projects/testdisk/)
This program is not flawless aswell (and like me...) but it does
detect the extended partions correctly. I could choose some of the
partitions for recovery, as long as they don't overlap each other.
(the next partition seems to start at the same cilinder the previous
one ended)
So it worked for me. Right now I am backing up my files and i am
almost ready to start over :)
This testdisk seems the same test disk you mentioned, but from
freshmeat you can get one that works easily from the LFS-livecd
So i could do without the windows livecd

Thanks for your help, hopefully this may help you in the future some
time... although it would be better to have backups..
