You could try building with --disable-static. KDE might not try to
grab the static library then. PIC confuses me.

For flash, I would suggest trying out swfdec. It uses gstreamer and
seemed to work pretty well when I tried it on x86. I stopped using it
once the new Adobe one came out. I'm pretty sure x86_64 is supported.
A pretty talented hacker has been hammering away at it for the past
few months.
