Yes, I know. There are not perfect solution but are interesting.

I don't know. I've searched once for small distros and I've founded
some. The blueflops is very good (links with svgalib-graphic, handle
net, dhcp, keyboard-layouts, etc.), but it's two floppy (very big
distro :).
Its kernel size is 1 034 266 bytes, plus some modules (net) on the
second floppy. If you configure the kernel to one concrete machine...
It's very difficult. Good luck ;)
