 But did you increase the log level in cupsd.conf ?  I'd be the
first to agree that reading the debug information from that file (I
suppose it is the error_log) is tedious and may still need thought
or analysis before it's any help, but it's pretty much your best
bet at this stage.

 The one time I had to do that, it turned out to be a permissions
or ownership problem on /var/spool/cups/tmp but that was a very long
time ago and it seems ok in my recent builds (it's now owned by
root:lp).
