So, I suggest you use alsamixer to unmute channels with the 'm' key (unmuted is shown as 'OO', muted as 'MM'). The specific controls to unmute need to be determined, they are different for each controller and motherboard. For the moment, start by unmuting everything - some controls may not fit on your screen (use the right arrow to get to them). Also, if you have any controls labelled 'DXS' ensure they are set to full level. If that solves the problem, you can then start adjusting the levels and muting inputs until you get a reasonable sound. If the problem remains, build strace, then use that to record the output (it will probably be enormous) and look through it to see if you can find out what error(s) are being reported. Might be something simple, like permisisons on a sound device (e.g. I need to be in group 'audio' to play sound as a user). If the problem is actually because of Pulse, I'm sorry, I've no idea. ĸen -- After tragedy, and farce, "OMG poneys!" -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
