In the past, I've attempted, from time to time, to record what I'm building and how I build it. The latest version has now been uploaded to http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/~ken/desktop-2010-05/ - a text file summarising what I'm doing, plus a tarball of my revised scripts.
This time, I've _only_ built on x86_64 (LFS-6.6) - I don't have time to rebuild my ppc boxes at the moment, and for the moment I'm not using 32-bit x86. As always, my build order works for me and seems to be adequate for the things I care about, it might not match BLFS (particular example, as mentioned before - I build cups before gtk+, even though I can't print until much later). The text file claims to list what I build, and in which order, but the scripts are definitive. I think all of the patches I use are already in -patches, but if I've missed uploading any, please ping me. Some of the more interesting parts are hidden away, e.g. making ide cd drives work is in pre-boot.d/media-rules. People who need a graphical desktop full of icons will probably find little of interest here. Similarly, I have no wireless, and I loathe attempts at guessing what I want to do (e.g. hal). For the things you can do better, feel free to laugh at my feeble efforts. For the rest, use anything that is useful to you.
