Card: HDA NVidia
F1: Help │
│ Chip: Realtek ALC883

yes in 2.6.34, and 2.6.34.6

yes

I have played wav files from /usr/share/sounds/alsa both at command prompt
before startkde and in konsole.
but I still get a dummy for the sound device in kde.
in one instance when I did not get a dummy I got KDE start/and/exit sounds
but no CD-sound.
The thing's a joke.
I think its hal and that consolekit mulaki. I hope its ditched by kde-4.6
with kdesolid.
