Greetings, I have a computer with these: -----cpu -amd64 2 cores -----o/s cblfs 64-bit linux kernel-2.6.35.4 kde-4.4.5 -----printing cups-1.4.3 epson-BX300F (a usb printer)
I used localhost:631 to configure cups. ########################## ----running lpinfo -v (no usb printers are listed) root [ home/linteg ]# /usr/sbin/lpinfo -v network ipp direct scsi network lpd network http network socket direct hal:///org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_4b8_848_18-digit- serialNO_if1_printer_noserial network beh root [ home/linteg ]# ------ running lpstat -p -d: root [ home/linteg ]# /usr/bin/lpstat -p -d printer EPSON_Stylus_Office_BX300F is idle. enabled since Tue Sep 14 16:27:02 2010 system default destination: EPSON_Stylus_Office_BX300F root [ home/linteg ]# ----a)trying to print a page from kde (Nothing happens but a page is registered in /var/spool/cups and /var/log/cups.log shows the job as cencelled. ----b)trying to clean the print-head via the web-interface and the response is "Unable to send command to printer driver!" ----c)requesting the printing of a test page (via the web-interface) and a completely black-page results, ----d)printing a file via the command line with 'lp -d file' as follows linteg [ ~ ]# lp -d EPSON_Stylus_Office_BX300F paths request id is EPSON_Stylus_Office_BX300F-7 (1 file(s)) linteg [ ~ ]# resulted as with c) in a black 'blank' page. ########################## This printer performed 'outof'the-box' with cups-1.3.7/kde-4.2.2. No usb printer(s) are listed for 'lpinfo -v' so I am wondering if ts a problem with the version of cups or hal (and accomplice ConsoleKit) being now planted in the way. Advice would be appreciated luxInteg -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
