I suspect that comment reflects the fact that xdm itself runs as root, and therefore can run X as root without the suid flag. Not really what bendeguz is looking for... My only suggestion would be to try it - remove the suid flag, start the X server as an ordinary user, and see what happens. Or talk to the Xorg guys themselves - I read somewhere that the XDS conference they're currently running had a presentation on the subject, so it's something they're actively working on... Simon.
