Hi there. I was wondering if anyone else here was experimenting with Wayland.
For those that don't know what Wayland is, check the following link! http://wayland.freedesktop.org/ I was experimenting with it myself and since it is very new, I could barely do something with it. But it looks promising. I've managed to get va-api working on Wayland and I've also managed to play HD Video using gst-launch. I was amazed. Quality was way better than with Xorg. Also, there is a native port of GTK+3 for Wayland and I've been experimented with that one, too. I didn't have much luck since most of apps now still use GTK+ X11 wrappers. Some of the apps that I've managed to start are Brasero, Bluefish Editor, Transmission Bittorent and gnome-sudoku from GNOME Games. The only thing every of these was missing is window decorations (menu bar, close, maximize and minimize buttons). All tests were ran on Weston, the Wayland compositor. If anyone is interested in build procedure on BLFS, feel free to ask. Wayland page already provides instructions and prerequsites for building Wayland and Weston. -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
