Don't let the wifi connection come up at boot time: ONBOOT=no.Try connecting manually without NM : ip link set wlan0 up /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -d -B -iwlan0 -Dwext -c/yourpathto/wpa_supplicant.conf dhclient wlan0 > I have also installed the iw program and tried to change the country, > that had no effect what so ever. It seems like the connection to the > AP is made, but then immediately disconnected again (what is "Reason: 15 ?). Reason code 15 is "4-way handshake timeout" (IEEE 802-11 standard). It probably means a misconfiguration of the acces point or of the laptop. Are you connecting to a wifi router or a modem ? What are the options in wpa_supplicant.conf ? Pierre -- That brought me a bit further, but I can see that I have several problems: Problem 1: I am using dhcpcd-5.6.7, but when I try to use it with both my wired and my wireless NIC, it does not start on the wireless. Therefore I was forced to set up a static IP for the wireless NIC. Problem 2: If I set up the wireless card to NOT start on boot, I can take it up after boot with ifup wifi0, but now the dhcpcd has already overwritten my resolv.conf. The result is, that the wireless NIC don't get ip's for DNS, so I can only communicate on my local network, no internet. Is it not possible to use dhcpcd on two different NIC's at the same time ? If not, I can live with a static IP. But how do I then set the IP's for DNS ? And finaly, I would very much prefer to start both NIC's at boot. In my host linux on the same machine( SuSE 12.3 with an updated kernel) everything works fine, so I know it is possible.
