Yes, there is always a fine judgement to be made - new versions sometimes bring new vulnerabilities - and many of the vulnerabilities will not be easily exploitable on a single user LFS system, or will merely crash firefox (but it does depend on what websites you visit :-). But whichever way you go, so much of the code is in xulrunner and so little in the firefox component (if you separate them), that the versions of both should match. At one time, I believed that building xulrunner and then firefox was slightly quicker than building only firefox. In the last couple of releases that doesn't seem true and I mistrust my earlier timings. My current view is that the only reason to build xulrunner is if you need it for something else (ISTR iced tea). Your system, your rules - you are your own security expert ;-) ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
