I've now got both ipv4 and ipv6 firewalls working satisfactorily, however, I'm having difficulty filtering icmpv6 packets, and wasted a lot of time yesterday in the attempt. As ipv6 is far more dependant upon icmp than ipv4 ever was, I'm finding it complicated to filter said packets in a secure manner and still have a functioning firewall.
If anybody has any tips on filtering icmpv6 packets to aid security I'd be very grateful to hear them. If not, then I'll stick with what I have for now (all icmpv6 packets allowed on both input and output chains) and return to the issue in the future when I have more time. Richard
