In Gnome, there's a system settings link you can click on, then there is
a printer configuration applet in the corresponding window. I haven't
tried either XFCE or LXDE before, but I would assume there is a system
settings or printer settings applet somewhere. I also read that you can
install GNOME components specifically for printer setup, then delete
them once the install on your printer is complete. Not sure I can help
you past that.
