I'm wondering if users should upgrade if

saw a discussion about upgrading gcc or changing optimization levels, but
assuming that is addressed, can the other dependencies be the same?

Hello Richard,
The dependencies do not really change. You will need to upgrade to later
versions of some of the libraries as they most likely will not work with
the latest version of firefox.
I have other issues with firefox, namely that if you have more than say 7
or 8 tabs open it periodically takes 100% of the cpu. It seems to me that
most non-open source sites pander to winbloze users and put flash and
other crap up on their sites thinking that they are wonderful in doing so,
and not actually thinking about how slow they are making things. The more
animation and clutter on a site, the slower it loads.
It does appear to work better when not used in desktop environments such
as kde, gnome etc. I am seriously to the point of dropping firefox on my
own installations. I just need to test other browsers to see their
performance and to make sure that they work with my banks internet
banking.
I can say that for me, here in New Zealand that zillow.com, on firefox
33.0.3 loads almost instantly.

I am running firefox in twm, the very basic window manager.
A funny thing is that on different partitions of the same
computer I have a LFS/BLFS-7.4 system that uses a much
older version, firefox-23.0.1, and zillow.com loads very
fast using the older firefox.
